Safe-t-bottles are made with laboratory grade borosilicate glass.  This glass is normally used in the production of test tubes and medical instruments, and can withstand extreme temps up to 500 degrees, and will not crack with sudden temperature changes like ordinary glass bottles can.  Borosilicate glass is free of the imperfections found in normal glass, making it a naturally antibacterial design.  Easy to sterilise, and can be safely microwaved, boiled and steamed.  No toxic inks are used - all measurements and markings are etched onto the bottle.  Safe-t-bottles bottles are free of phthalates and free of bisphenol-a.

Siliskin option:

Why a translucent Siliskin protective sleeve?  As well as looking great, Siliskins provide an excellent gripping surface, easier for you and also easier for baby to grab.  They are also useful to aid against dropping and breaking - they add impact resistance, much like a mobile phone cover.  If the bottle does happen to break, the Siliskin will help to contain all those pieces.  Measurement markings can be seen through the Siliskin, however in some conditions may need to be held up to the light for easier viewing. 

Finally, with younger babies it is important to sterilise your bottles.  The Siliskins are an important aid here, to help handle your bottles through their sterilisation runs.  The skins are extremely hardwearing and can be left on your bottle through their sterilisation runs through your steam steriliser, microwave steriliser, dishwasher etc.

The Siliskin option here is a very snug fit - it will very rarely need to be taken off your bottle to clean underneath, as virtually no dirt can get caught between.

As the Safe-T-Bottle measurements are etched into the bottle, placing a Siliskin over the bottle can also protect the etchings from harsh dishwasher cycles.
